I'm Marissa and I started Conspicuous Inc. during grad school. My favorite pastime, hiking, inspired most of my work, and an undergraduate degree in biology helped me develop a business model based on education and giving back.
FOR THE ADVENTURERS, THE LATE NIGHT HANGOUT-ERS, AND THE ONES WHO WANT WHAT'S RIGHT FOR THE WORLD.
I VALUE EDUCATION, SOCIAL JUSTICE, AND EQUITABLE EXCHANGE.
That means every design comes with a powerful message, and when a design is purchased, half of the profits are donated back to an organization that works with the issue.
I love studying. I read my first chemistry textbook cover to cover and as soon as I finished my undergrad, I sprinted into a masters of neuroscience. College taught me a profound appreciation for issues that operate in undercurrents of popular culture, like the unexplained link between disappearing languages and biodiversity, women's issues that we don't consider women's issues, and my own and others' experiences with epilepsy that fundamentally changed things as large as my career.
Conspicuous Inc. was founded with the intention of sharing awareness about important topics like these in a fun and unique way. Expressing values is an important part of starting a connection, pairing art and community in a way that everyone can appreciate.
